Carmel earns repeat ESCC title

It's been quite a run for the Carmel girls golf team over the last two years.

On Monday, the Corsairs completed their second straight undefeated season by winning their second straight East Suburban Catholic Conference championship.

Led by juniors Alexa Amato (84) and Kayla Ryan (86), Carmel beat out second-place Benet, 346-362.

Amato placed third overall, behind champion Stephanie Mroz of Fenwick, who finished with an 81. She was named the conference player of the year.

Carmel coach Jill Franz was named the conference coach of the year.
