Sherman Hospital named Practice of the Year by CEP America

Elgin, Ill. - Advocate Sherman Hospital has been named Practice of the Year by CEP America.

The award comes as the hospital's annual emergency department volume has grown by 20 percent in the past three years to over 53,000 patient visits a year. Staff has continued to make sustained operational improvements during this growth period.

"We are thrilled to be recognized with such a distinguished honor," said Dr. Matthew Stilson, CEP America Regional Director - Illinois and emergency medicine specialist at Sherman Hospital. "Our emergency department team focuses on process improvements so that Sherman Hospital can provide excellent quality care for our patients."

Those improvements include decreasing Sherman Hospital's median time to provider to 20 minutes, while turnaround time to discharge from the emergency department has dropped to 123 minutes. These operational improvements have also impacted patient satisfaction scores at the hospital, which jumped from the 17th to 82nd percentile.

In addition to managing Sherman Hospital's emergency department, CEP America providers also staff its immediate care centers in Algonquin, Elgin and South Elgin.

The award was announced during a recent Partnership Meeting in San Diego, Calif. Four other California-based hospitals were recognized as Distinguished Practices during the annual meeting.
