White Sox win one for Konerko

The White Sox won one for their retiring captain, Paul Konerko, Saturday night.

After a 40-minute pregame ceremony for Konerko, who is calling it quits after Sunday's game, the Sox went out and beat the Royals 5-4 at U.S. Cellular Field.

Konerko was 0-for-3 before Andy Wilkins replaced him at first base in the top of the seventh inning.

With the Tigers also losing, Kansas City remains 1 game out of first place in the AL Central with a game to play.

The White Sox jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning on Alexei Ramirez's RBI single and Jose Abreu's 2-run homer.

Abreu has 36 home runs for the season, a record for Sox rookies.

Josh Phegley accounted for the rest of the White Sox' offense with solo home runs in the second and seventh innings.

Check back later for more details on Konerko's big night.
