'Sweet Home, Wauconda!' homcecoming parade
A parade, football game and dance marked the culmination of Wauconda High School's homecoming week on Saturday.
The parade stepped off from Wauconda Middle School with floats, bands and the king and queen, making its way through a nearby neighborhood before heading through downtown to the high school.
The school is celebrating 100 years, and the parade was part of a weeklong homecoming celebration. Students enjoyed float building, business window painting, dress-up days, pep assemblies, king and queen crowning, football against North Chicago and Saturday night's dance.
Students and staff members participated in a pep rally Friday that featured the voice of the Chicago Blackhawks, Jim Cornelison, singing the national anthem.
