Garage catches fire near Barrington

An empty garage caught fire Wednesday evening near a Cook County forest preserve in the Barrington area, fire officials said.

East Dundee and Countryside firefighters received a call about 6 p.m. that a building was on fire near Healy and Penny roads. Cook County brought in a brush truck to extinguish the fire, firefighters said. The garage was a total loss, estimated at $20,000. The cause is still under investigation.
