Elk Grove mayor's son running for library board
T.R. Johnson, the son of longtime Elk Grove Village Mayor Craig Johnson, is circulating petitions to run for Elk Grove Village Public Library board.
The mayor said Wednesday he didn't encourage his son to run for public office, but is nonetheless pleased that he expressed interest in doing so.
The younger Johnson, 29, is the mayor's oldest son. He has been a customer service manager with the Chicago Blackhawks since 2008, hired after earning a master's degree in sports management from Northern Illinois University.
There are three library board seats up for election next April. Each is for a 6-year term.
Craig Johnson was elected mayor in 1997.
