Elgin mayor to speak to Elgin Lions at October meeting

Elgin Mayor David Kaptain will speak at the meeting of the Elgin Lions Club at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7, at the American Legion Hall, 820 N. Liberty St., Elgin. The public is invited to attend the meeting.

Mayor Kaptain will be discussing current and future projects in Elgin. He will be available for questions from members and other attendees who are interested in the fortunes of the city. Mayor Kaptain is a skilled communicator and a lively and informative meeting is anticipated.

The meeting is open to the public. Those wishing to attend are asked to notify the club on the Elgin Lions Club's phone line at (847) 289-4206 and leave a message. It is a dinner meeting. The cost for the meal is $15, but attendees do not need to partake of the meal. When leaving the message, please indicate if a dinner is desired. Advance notification is necessary to provide adequate seating and meals.

In October, the Elgin Lions Club will have been serving the Elgin area for 93 years, providing thousands of eyeglasses to Elgin area students who could not otherwise afford them as well as performing countless other charitable works.

The club is interested in gaining new members so that it can do even more for the community. Anyone interested in helping out the community is encouraged to attend this meeting.
