Taxpayers should have say on school pools

I am shocked! Shocked (in my best Casablanca accent) that the District 214 board elected to spend the $45 million in excessive taxes they voted to collect. If the board wants to build a new swimming pool, they should ask for a referendum, even if 80 percent of such attempts are rejected, to determine if the district taxpayers want to foot the bill - and not use underhanded methods to generate the funds.

You can be sure my vote in April will be cast for whoever is running against William J. Dussling, president; Dan Petro, vice president; and Alva Kreutzer.
