Foundation formed as firefighter tribute

HUDSON, - A new foundation to help the families of first responders is also being created as a memorial to a fallen firefighter from the central Illinois community of Hudson.

The Chris Brown Foundation will honor volunteer firefighter Chris Brown, who was killed while on duty in 2013 after a semitrailer truck crashed into scene of an accident, The Pantagraph in Bloomington reports.

Mike Brown, Chris Brown's father, said the foundation is being set up to provide financial help and support for the families of first responders who are injured or suffer illness because of in incident while on-duty.

Hudson Fire Chief Dan Hite said he hopes the foundation will "be a living tribute to Chris and to the core values that he brought to life and to the fire service."
