Caputo plans upgrades at former Elk Grove Dominick's

Joe Caputo & Sons Fruit Market officials are planning to make some $350,000 in improvements to build out the vacant Dominick's location in Elk Grove Village.

Company officials recently applied for a village building permit for facility upgrades in the deli, dairy and frozen food sections. They're also planning to construct a food cafe, according to Mayor Craig Johnson.

The grocer is targeting Oct. 15 as the opening date of its 72,000-square-foot store at 980 Elk Grove Town Center. It's one of four former Dominick's locations that Caputo purchased after Dominick's owner Safeway closed the stores and left the Chicago market.
