Official: Online post about Stevenson High wasn't intended as threat
An anonymous Internet comment that led to an increased police presence at Stevenson High School in Lincolnshire on Monday was not intended as a threat, school officials say.
Officials at the school asked for additional Lincolnshire police on campus Monday in response to the comment, which appeared on a Facebook page about Stevenson High that isn't officially affiliated with the school.
However, after identifying its author, school and law enforcement authorities determined there was no danger to students.
"Based on the interview with this individual, we do not believe threatening action was ever intended," school spokesman Jim Conrey wrote in an email. "This is an individual who needs help, and we will do what we can to make sure that happens."
Although some students appeared to have stayed home from school Monday because of the perceived threat, classes went on as scheduled and the campus wasn't locked down.
