Pioneer Day Sept. 14, in Elk Grove Village
The annual Pioneer Day celebration from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 14, at the Elk Grove Historical Museum will feature a petting zoo, 1800s style live music, historical demonstrations such as candle-making and weaving and an array of historic characters dressed in costume.
Create a toy from the past, play old-fashioned games, and enjoy guided tours of the 1856 farmhouse. Build a scarecrow with the Elk Grove Garden Club to take home for $10. Light refreshments will be available for purchase.
Pioneer Day is presented by the Elk Grove Park District and the Elk Grove Historical Society. Admission is free.
The Elk Grove Historical Museum is a facility of the Elk Grove Park District and is at 399 Biesterfield Road in Elk Grove Village. Parking is available at the Jack A. Claes Pavilion, 1000 Wellington Ave.
