Police say workers ripped off at Lake Zurich seniors facility

Lake Zurich police say they are investigating theft reports filed by three workers who lost nearly $1,100 worth of items at a Church Street seniors facility.

Deputy Police Chief Kevin Finlon said the instances of theft under investigation were reported Friday by employees at Cedar Lake Assisted Living and Memory Care.

Police said diamond earrings, credit cards and other items were in a wallet taken from one employee's purse while she worked at the facility. The loss was pegged at $930.

A second woman reported credit cards, cash and other items with an estimated value of $80 were missing from her purse. One of her credit cards was used later Friday in Elgin, according to authorities.

In the third case, police said, a woman reported a wallet was stolen from her purse containing a checkbook, credit cards and personal information. The loss was placed at $70.

Police said the three thefts at the Church Street facility resulted in a combined loss of $1,080.
