Illinois mother charged with murder of 11-year-old

A Waukegan woman has been charged with the first-degree murder of her 11-year-old daughter.

Police say 32-year-old Nicholette Lawrence is held on $5 million bond following the death of Raasania Coley on Friday. Lawrence tells investigators she struck her daughter in the stomach earlier that week.

Police say Coley was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead. An autopsy by the Lake County coroner's office ruled she died from a torn stomach as a result of blunt force trauma.

Lawrence's two other children have been placed with relatives. Police say there are no other allegations of abuse.

Online jail records didn't indicate an attorney.
