CLC, NIU strike transfer deal
Eligible students who leave College of Lake County before receiving an associate degree won't lose out if they attend Northern Illinois University, under an agreement struck Friday. NIU President Doug Baker and CLC President Jerry Weber signed the reverse transfer deal in DeKalb. Officials said eligible students who transfer to NIU from CLC without associate degrees will be able to receive the two-year degree using credit from NIU courses. Credits completed at NIU are transferred back to CLC and used to satisfy the requirements for an associate degree, similar to how credit is transferred from a community college to NIU, just in reverse. NIU now has reverse transfer agreements with six community colleges across the state.
