Gardening expert to offer tips for fall prep work

Melinda Myers, a nationally recognized gardening expert, TV/radio host, and author of the Midwest Gardener's Handbook, will present a free "Fall Prep for a Beautiful Spring Garden" seminar at Pasquesi Home and Gardens, 975 North Shore Drive in Lake Bluff, from 11 a.m.-noon Saturday, Sept. 20.

"Fall is a great time to plant and prepare your garden," explained Myers. "There's so much gardeners can do this fall to get ready for the winter ahead and create an eye-catching display next spring."

During the seminar, Myers will share ideas on specific bulb, tree and shrub varieties that do well when planted in the fall. She will discuss the importance of and provide information on proper care for new and established plantings, as well as the best strategies for winterizing and protecting your investment from wildlife to insure the plants make it through our often challenging winters.

Myers presentation will be followed by a question-and-answer session from noon-1 p.m.

Attendees will have the chance to win a gardening basket filled with Myers' favorite gardening tools and products.
