BARRINGTON UNITED METHODIST CHURCH SUPPORTS THE TROOPS
DONATIONS NEEDED. On September 7 and 14, 2014, the Mission Ministry Group of BUMC will be collecting treats and funds to send 200 packages to U.S. Army troops in the 2nd Engineer Brigade of Joint Task Force Trailblazer in Afghanistan.
Part of the mission of Task Force Trailblazer is training Afghan Engineer units, drilling wells to provide drinking water and removing Taliban mines. In this atmosphere, small packages from home provide a reminder that we are grateful for their service and wish them a safe return.
This project will involve approximately $5,000 for food items and mailing cost. Once the material and funds are available, members of the congregation and any other interested volunteers will be asked to assist in packing the boxes for the Troops. Please contact the Church Office at 847-836-5540 with any questions.
The treats and funds may be dropped off at the church (98 Algonquin Road…Algonquin Road and Route 59) during the week or on Sundays. Checks should be made payable to the Barrington United Methodist Church with a "For the Troops" notation on the check.
Shipping costs (which are substantial), perishability and handling over long distances define what can be sent. If you wish to give items a list below is provided:
