Man's death on railroad tracks in Des Plaines ruled suicide
The death of a 40-year-old man struck Tuesday afternoon by an outbound Metra train in downtown Des Plaines has been ruled a suicide by the Cook County medical examiner's office.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene at 5:37 p.m. Tuesday, authorities said. The collision occurred at the Des Plaines train depot, where police responded at about 5:10 p.m.
According to witnesses, the man had stepped off the platform in front of the moving train as it came toward the station, police said.
