Boys soccer: Fox Valley roundup Thursday, August 28

Crystal Lake South 4, Crystal Lake Central 0: A pair of goals from a freshman helped the Gators (2-0-0) win big in a Fox Valley Conference crossover match. Nick Getzinger scored the first 2 goals of the match while Andrew Grabowski and Jake Canfield each had a goal. Earning the shutout in goal was Dalton Kause with 2 saves.

Lake Park 4, Huntley 1: The Red Raiders (0-1-1) found themselves down 2-0 after the first half and could not recover, falling to Lake Park at the Lake Park Invite. Angel Sanchez scored the only Huntley goal on a pass from Alex Ligeza with four minutes left in the contest. Keeper Michael Parks had 5 saves in goal.

Round Lake 6, Dundee-Crown 1: Suffering their first regular-season defeat in over a year, the Chargers (2-1-0) found themselves down early and could not recover. Jeremy Jereckyj, assisted by Daniel Maldonado, scored the lone goal of the night for D-C in the second half to make it a 5-1 game. Jose Gonzales had 6 saves while in goal.

St. Edward 5, Hampshire 1: Despite being down 1-0 early, the Green Wave (1-1-0) scored 5 unanswered goals and cruised to a nonconference win. Joe French scored a pair of goals and Austin Pfeiffer added a goal and an assist for the Green Wave. Matt Hesch had 7 saves in goal. For the Whip-Purs (0-2-0), Peter Panagakos scored on a pass from Jose Cruz to open the game. Andy Pederson and Jayson Fleisner split time in goal.

Burlington Central 1, DeKalb 1: Down 1-0 at the half facing the host team at the DeKalb Tournament, the Rockets (1-0-2) scored late in the second to remain unbeaten on the year. Stefan Jochum scored the lone goal unassisted while Ryan Fitzgerald kept the Rockets alive with 18 saves in goal.

South Elgin 0, Glenbard East 0: Another Upstate Eight Conference crossover opponent, another tie for the Storm (0-0-2) as it could not find the back of the net at home against UEC newcomer Glenbard East. Colton Wenig finished with 5 saves manning the net.

West Aurora 4, Bartlett 2: The Hawks (0-2, 0-1 UEC Valley) led 2-0 after the first half, but 4 West Aurora goals in the second half handed Bartlett its second loss of the season. Zane Kaliser and Andrew Gott scored for the Hawks to get things started but the lead soon disappeared. Jake Hasenstein had 10 saves in goal for the Hawks.

Larkin 2, Oak Park River Forest 1: Going into the half tied at 1-1, the Royals (1-1) used a Ricardo Nava goal from Inno Simental to pick up their first win of the year. Diego Ramirez assisted on a Moises Raya goal in the first half to get the offense started, while Leo Perez stonewalled OPRF with 7 saves in net.

West Chicago 2, Elgin 1: After storms suspended the Maroons' (0-1-0) first game on Tuesday, they found themselves leading after the first half but could not walk away with a victory in UEC River action. Juan Flores scored on a penalty kick that gave Elgin the early 1-0 lead. Edgar Rodriguez was in goal for the Maroons and had 7 saves.
