Chicago man gets 40 years in fatal 2009 crash

CHICAGO - A Chicago man has been sentenced to 40 years in prison for a 2009 crash that killed a woman and critically injured her young son.

The Cook County State's Attorney's Office says that 35-year-old Ralph Eubanks was sentenced Friday on convictions that included first-degree murder, driving under the influence and failing to report an accident.

Eubanks fled a traffic stop at high speed on Chicago's North Side in December 2009 before striking and killing 48-year-old Maria Worthon, and critically injuring her 6-year-old son.

Authorities say Eubanks tested positive for drugs after the crash, including cocaine and marijuana.
