Arlington Heights drowning death ruled accidental

The death of a 12-year-old girl in Arlington Heights has been ruled an accident after an autopsy by the Cook County Medical Examiner.

Jasanae Poole, 12, of Chicago, died earlier this week after an incident at a swimming pool at the Tanglewood Apartment complex in Arlington Heights on Monday.

Police said the girl was swimming at the pool with a cousin and a friend when she began to struggle in the deep end. She was taken to Lurie Children's Hospital in Chicago where she was pronounced dead on Tuesday morning.

The autopsy Thursday ruled her cause of death “complications of near-drowning.”
