No injuries, one displaced in Waukegan high rise fire Monday night
No injuries were reported in an apartment fire on the eighth floor of a Waukegan high rise building, authorities said.
Waukegan Fire Department Battalion Chief Gene Decker said the fire, which was reported at 8 p.m. Monday, was contained to the kitchen of the apartment in the 200 block of Martin Luther King Drive.
No one was home when the fire started, Decker said, and no firefighters were injured.
The apartment was determined to be uninhabitable by authorities, he said, and the resident was forced to find new accommodations.
The cause of the fire and the cost of the damage it caused is unknown, he said.
The fire remains under investigation.
