8th annual Taste of the Towns returns to Lake Zurich's Paulus Park

Taste of the Towns, where the focus is on the food and beverage vendors who feature "tastes" of their signature or new items, returns to Lake Zurich for its eighth year.

The 2014 event is from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 24, in village's signature Paulus Park, 200 S. Rand Road.

In the past, attendees have enjoyed tastes from local gourmet businesses, such as Julio's Latin Café, Biaggi's, and On Occasion Catering & Events, and beverages from vendors including d'Vine Wine & Gifts, Binny's Beverage Depot, Trader Joe's, and many more.

Attendees also enjoy many free family activities and musical entertainment sponsored by local businesses, including "Paint the Car" provided by Casten Auto Body; a climbing wall provided by Foglia YMCA; and pitching by Go Hardball. There's also arts and crafts activities for kids provided by local day care facilities; dance from Trilogy School of Performing Arts; and music throughout the event.

Entrance to the event and entertainment is free, so all parkgoers are welcome to enjoy the live entertainment, free kids activities and picnic in the park.

Those interested in enjoying the many "tastes" of food and beverages must purchase a tasting menu. Tasting menus allow attendees to receive one "taste" of food and/or beverage from every vendor. Tasting menus are limited and can be purchased in advance of the event for a discounted rate.

Tasting menus can be purchased on the chamber's website and from www.tasteofthetowns.com. Cost is $30 for one, $50 for two, $100 for four and $200 for 10. Cost is $35 on site, if available (last year the event sold out).

The annual Taste of the Towns is a great opportunity to bring family, friends, and neighbors together for tasting the foods you always wanted to try, and enjoy live entertainment in a beautiful park.

Great time for families, friends and neighbors to get together - bring chairs, blankets and your appetite.

Proceeds from the event help to fund programs and services provided by the LZ Area Chamber of Commerce, such as the Young Entrepreneurs Academy.
