What took so long to hear from congressman?

Congressman Brad Schneider has been my representative for nearly two years. Until recently I have not been aware of any communications from the congressman to his constituents.

Over the last month or so, I have received a few mailings by the congressman informing us of various initiatives that he has worked on since being elected. I applaud this effort and believe it is important to understand what our representatives are doing on our behalf.

Why do we need to wait until an election is near to hear from Congressman Schneider, and why are the taxpayers paying for these mailings?
