Hoffman Estates' Germanfest, 5K is Sept. 12-13

The village of Hoffman Estates hosts its annual Platzkonzert Germanfest on Saturday, Sept. 13, an open air celebration with authentic German food, beer, entertainment and activities. New to the event is a competitive 5K race through the Prairie Stone Business Park. Race fees are $35-$40; deadline to sign up is Sept. 5 at platzkonzertgermanfest.com/5k. The Village Green, 5510 Prairie Stone Parkway, opens at 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 12, and the band Centerfold will provide a free concert at 6 p.m.
