Lombard office complex damaged in early morning fire

Lombard fire officials are investigating a blaze that caused about $5,000 in damage to an office building on the 2200 block of South Main Street early Monday morning.

Assistant Fire Chief Jerry Howell of the Lombard Fire Department said firefighters were called to the three-story office building at about 6 a.m. and saw smoke on the first floor of the structure.

They traced the smoke to a small fire in a break room in the office complex. Firefighters quickly doused the flames before additional damages could be done.

He said no one was in the building at the time of the fire, and no firefighters were injured in the blaze.
