Rockin' country band at Bartlett library's 'Fravinia'

Pack up the family and a picnic dinner and take part in the Bartlett Public Library's outdoor summer fun.

At 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 8, the Friends of the Library are pleased to treat the community to the third concert in the "Fravinia" series of free music and entertainment. Billy Croft & the 5 Alarm, a red-hot country rock band, will play music from the best of country rock legends like the Eagles and Linda Ronstadt to contemporary artists including Keith Urban, Jason Aldean, Rascal Flatts, Lady Antebellum and Sugarland. The band will also share original music dedicated to service workers from the heartland.

Picnic baskets, blankets and lawn chairs are welcome.

In an effort to reinforce the Paws to Read theme of its Summer Reading Program, the library also welcomes the Almost Home Foundation at 6 p.m. on Aug. 8, for an adoption event. The library has partnered with the foundation to have a number of "adoptable" rescue dogs at the event to encourage pet adoption services and welcomes the community to meet the animals and to explore the adoption process.

The accomplishments of the library's Paws to Read summer readers will also be recognized at the Aug. 8 Fravinia event. All participants who completed their summer reading logs will be entered into the Youth Services Grand Prize Drawing for a family membership to the Brookfield Zoo. A total of three memberships will be awarded in the following age groups: Baby to 2-year-olds; 3- to five-year-olds; and elementary school ages. Prizes will also be awarded to teen and adult summer readers on Aug. 8. Winners need not be present to win.

The rain location is the Bartlett Public Library Meeting Room.
