Letter defending Obama refreshing to read

I am surprised that the Daily Herald actually printed the letter from Mr. Nelson on July 20 ("Criticism of Obama was fantastical"). Ninety-nine percent of letters in print are anti-Obama, pro-Republican, anti-Democrat - and, sadly, frequently full of half-truths, misstatements of fact and delusions of the writer.

This president has kept us out of war, but warmongers think he is weak. Under his administration, millions of Americans have health care, unemployment has dropped significantly, and the deficit is at the lowest point in years. Of course, nothing is perfect, but to read most letters to the editor in the Daily Herald one would think we are well on the road to perdition under this president. This letter from Mr. Nelson was a breath of fresh air - especially needed as I read the typical right-wing, hate-filled responses that followed.
