Officials: 1 dead, 6 hurt in West side shooting

CHICAGO - Chicago authorities are reporting that one person was killed and six others wounded while standing on West Side street corner.

A Chicago Fire Department spokesman said Friday one person was dead at the scene of the shooting in the East Garfield Park neighborhood. The spokesman says two people were hospitalized in critical condition, two are in fair condition and one is in good condition. One of the wounded refused medical attention.

The ages of the victims weren't immediately known.

Police haven't said what precipitated the shooting.
