Second Highwood Craft Beer Festival to take place Aug. 2

After an extremely successful kickoff year, the Highwood Craft Beer Festival is back.

Highwood's Craft Beer Festival, in collaboration with Chicago's Finch's Beer Co. and Two Brothers Brewing Co., will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, in Everts Park, 130 Highwood Ave., Highwood.

A celebration of craft beer on Chicago's North Shore, ticket holders will experience over 40 breweries including local breweries: 18th Street Brewery, Ale Syndicate, Break Room Brewery, Begyle Brewing Co., Big Shoulders Beer, Bucket List Brewing, Buckle Down Brewing, Lagunitas, Lake Effect, Lake Bluff Brewing Co., Mickey Finn's, Pipeworks Brewing Company, Revolution Brewing, Smylie, Slapshot Brewing Company, Tighthead Brewing Company, Transient Artisan Ales, Wild Onion Brewing Co. and Chicagos' Finch's Beer Co.

Breweries will offer over 80 different types of local, Midwest, and American craft beers. This includes many seasonal and year-round brews from small, local and independent breweries to some of the best-known regional microbreweries.

Local vendors will provide food and live music along with Irish dance performances to entertain the masses. Nonalcoholic beverages will also be available.

"Craft Beer Fest 2013 was such a success, there was no question we were going to make this an annual event in the great city of Highwood," Craft Beer Fest Founder Ted Widen said. "Last year, we brought in 1,100 people and are certain we'll double that number in 2014."

Highwood's Craft Beer Festival will donate a portion of its proceeds to Arts of Life, a Chicago-area nonprofit arts studio for adults with and without disabilities. Arts of Life will be showcasing and selling art on-site throughout the day.
