Des Plaines business offers free yogurt for a year

A business coming to downtown Des Plaines is offering free yogurt for a year to the winner of a logo design contest.

Veronica Ricci and her husband, Riccardo, plan to open a Forever Yogurt location this fall in a Metropolitan Square storefront between Potbelly and Panera Bread.

And though their business is part of a national frozen yogurt chain, they're allowed as franchisees to add local flare to their logo, Ricci says.

She says she got the idea to involve the community after a recent trip to the Des Plaines History Center.

"We were wondering what we could put in (the logo)," Ricci said. "Something that represents Des Plaines. It could maybe be the train, the river, or a building, like the library. Something important to the community."

The logo designs should be black and white and fit in a round shape that says "Forever Yogurt Des Plaines" on the outside. The logos should be submitted in .jpg format to vricci@yogura.us by Aug. 1. The contest is open to both children and adults.

The winner will receive a card for a $5 cup of yogurt per week, for a year.

The second place finisher will get $20 worth of yogurt, third place gets $10, and fourth and fifth places get $5.

The Riccis live on the Northwest Side of Chicago, but plan to move to Des Plaines after they open their shop, which they hope occurs by mid-September.
