Aurora cops battling string of west side burglaries

Burglars are targeting vehicles parked on Aurora's west side and have stolen almost $9,000 worth of electronics, purses, wallets, jewelry and other valuables since July 1, police said Thursday.

Of the 21 vehicles that have been hit, police said, 17 were unlocked and 15 were parked in residential driveways.

Most of the burglaries occurred in the overnight hours. Investigators said they have no suspects.

Police are urging residents to lock their cars and keep anything of value out of sight. They're asking anyone who sees suspicious activity in their neighborhood to call 911.

Aurora Crime Stoppers is offering up to a $5,000 reward for information leading to any arrests. Callers to Crime Stoppers at (630) 892-1000 may remain anonymous.
