Hear family talk about aunt's history with MLB

The Huntley Historical Society invites the community to the annual meeting and program, which will be followed by an election for six board members.

The meeting and program will take place from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, July 26, in the lower level of the American Community Bank and Trust, 10101 Route 47 (near Reed), Huntley.

Mary Manning, Margaret Manning and Barbara Ernesti will be the keynote speakers. The sisters will talk about their aunt, Margaret Donahue, who was the first woman to hold an executive position in a Major League ballclub. She was the corporate secretary and ultimately the vice president of the Chicago Cubs. They are bringing memorabilia from their aunt's storied career.

After the program, there will be an election of open board positions as well as a review of historical society's 2013-14 business.

Anyone is eligible to run for one of the six positions. If you are interested in running, contact Ronda Goldman at rondanicky@hotmail.com or (224) 654-2070. Annual and new membership dues will be collected at the meeting. Jim Drendel of Drendel Mobil will be providing the refreshments.
