Rock out to local favorites at fair soundstage

Kane County Fair Board President Larry Breon doesn't promise that all attendees will love everything about the fair, but he does assure visitors that they will likely find a musical act that sparks their interest.

One of the most popular spots at the fair, now on its 146th year, is the Miller Lite Soundstage, which hosts local bands and performers every day of the fair.

Most of the bands are returning favorites, but at 6 p.m. on Friday, July 18, Chicago Tribute Anthology will be making its Kane County Fair debut. Later that night, at 8 p.m., Hi Infidelity will perform.

Other bands scheduled include Hillbilly Rockstarz at 7 p.m. Thursday; on Saturday, Heartache Tonight at 5:30 p.m. and Mike & Joe at 8 p.m.; and on Sunday, the Neverly Brothers at 4 p.m. and American English at 7 p.m.

The live entertainment at the Miller Lite Soundstage is free with the cost of admission, which is $5 Thursday, July 17, and $10 Friday, July 18, through Sunday, July 19. The fair is at 525 S. Randall Road, St. Charles.

Breon said variety is a priority at the fair, as everyone has a different taste in music.

"If you don't like the band or the music that's there when you check it out, wait a couple of hours and come back. There will be something different," Breon said. "If you do like it, come back later and there will be something similar. There's something for everyone."

Craig Gigstad plays the stand up bass while singing with The Neverly Brothers during a recent performance. The Neverly Brothers perform rock 'n' roll oldies, including songs from the Big Bopper, Buddy Holly, Roy Orbinson, Chuck Berry and Elvis. The band will perform at 4 p.m. Sunday at the Kane County Fair in St. Charles. Mark Black/mblack@dailyherald.com ¬
