Libertyville band, Sneezy, celebrates hometown roots with performances in July

The sound of this band is nothing to sneeze at; Sneezy is a group of 6 young men from Libertyville who have crafted a musical chemistry blending lush harmonies, stirring beats, and bold bass lines into an innovative sound born from hip-hop, rock, and soul. Their carefree and compelling music crosses age demographics, appealing to multiple generations of listeners. The band is known for original songs, dynamic mash-ups, and original interpretations of covers.

Sneezy has been busy playing shows at regional venues and universities, however, this July the band is staying close to home for a couple of live shows. Music fans will have two opportunities to feel the energy of this inventive band in Libertyville. People who enjoy a musical nightlife can catch them Saturday, July 19th at the new Mickey Finns, located at 345 N. Milwaukee Ave. in Libertyville. People who like their music in the daylight will enjoy Sneezy as they play in Cook Park on Friday, July 25th for MainStreet's Lunch in the Park.

The roots of this band reach back into the Libertyville childhood of the members with experiences and influences which crisscross and interrelate to build their unique sound. The soaring harmonies are tight and rich due, in part, to Brett O'Connor (vocals and harmonica) and Jack Holland's (vocals and guitar) experience with the Red Rose Children's Choir and later with Ben Paulson (drums, keyboard, vocals) in the LHS Choir. O'Connor and Holland's first band together, The Hound Dogs, formed while in the 2nd grade. The rock solid rhythm section built by Paulson and Tom Hannum (bass) is rooted in the acclaimed LHS music program and through playing together in a variety of rock and jazz bands in high school. Austin Lutter (guitar) and Holland studied guitar under Paul Compton building a shared understanding of theory used in crafting original songs together. Colton Lutter, brother of Austin, completes the energy and the beat on djembe when not working as a sous chef at the innovative local restaurant, Milwalky Trace.
