Buffalo Grove clears way for golf dome update

The Buffalo Grove village board has approved an ordinance amending the special-use permit allowing the park district to operate its golf dome.

The move will enable the park district to upgrade the Golf and Sports Center, 801 McHenry Road, by adding a new heating and air conditioning system and replacing the dome material. The ordinance requires that the dome be removed by June 1, 2030.

It also allows activities 256 days per year, an increase of 14 days from the previous ordinance. In addition, it requires village approval of the dome's exterior material prior to construction.

The next step for the village is to review the park district's building permit.
