Hanover Park police show fun side at picnic
Hanover Park police rolled out hot dogs, K-9 demos and face painting for the annual COPS Day picnic Wednesday.
The event - COPS stands for Community Oriented Police Strategy - is meant to help connect residents with officers, dressed in polos and jeans, in a more informal setting, organizers say.
Police booked a DJ and White Sox mascot Southpaw for the two-hour picnic at Spring Wood Middle School on Arlington Drive.
Coop, the Schaumburg Boomers mascot, was there too.
The department also raffled off four bikes and a 32-inch television with proceeds going to the Hanover Park Hurricanes, a youth football team.
