Faith United Methodist Church in Lombard to welcome New Pastor

Faith United Methodist Church, "the Friendly Church," would like to welcome its new pastor, Reverend Amos Niyi Oladipo. Prior to his appointments to Faith Church in Lombard and Mandell United Methodist Church in Chicago in July, he served as Assistant pastor at St. Mark UMC, Chicago (1996-2005); Pastor, Brookfield UMC, Chicago, (2005-2009); Pastor, Epworth UMC, Chicago (2009-2013); and Pastor of African Community UMC, Chicago (2003-June 2014). He is a member of the Northern Illinois Conference of the United Methodist Church.

Rev. Oladipo was born and raised in a Christian home in Nigeria, Africa. He comes from a long line of pastors. He was ordained as Deacon in 1983 and as Elder in 1986. Rev. Oladipo received his Bachelors in Religious Studies from University of Ife, Ile-Ife, Nigeria. During his time at the University, he served churches from cities to the rural areas. Before his arrival to the United States, he taught at Methodist Theological Institute in Sagamu, Nigeria.

He received his Master of Divinity in 1991 from Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas and is currently working on his doctoral dissertation in Historical Theology. He received an Executive Certificate in Business Management from Loyola University, Chicago. He worked with the United Methodist Publishing House as a sales manager at both Aurora and Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary stores (1995-2005).

Rev. Amos Oladipo is currently a member of the Conference Council on Finance Administration, and a member of Chicago Northwestern District's Connectional Table. He was a member of the Northern Illinois Conference's Commission on Christian Unity and Interreligious Concerns (2005-2008) and the chairperson (2008-2012), the President of Ecumenism Metro Chicago, (formerly Ecumenical Millennium Committee) and Past President of Brookfield-Riverside Rotary Club.

He was a member of Bishop Jung's delegation to Turkey in 2008 and a Special Clergy's trip to Jerusalem in 2009.

He is married with a daughter (Olufikayo, 29), two sons (Olujemiyo, 28 and Omotayo, 21) and one granddaughter, Ikeolu (2).

Faith United Methodist Church is located at 815 S. Main Street in Lombard. The phone number is (630) 627-1039 and is a host site of Smart Choice, a low-cost food network distributor. Beginning in July with Pastor Oladipo's arrival, the worship service will begin at 9:00 a.m.
