District 204 names three new principals

New principals stepped into their new posts this week at two middle schools and an elementary school in Indian Prairie Unit District 204.

The top administrators started July 1 at Granger and Scullen middle schools as well as McCarty Elementary School in the district that serves parts of Naperville, Aurora, Bolingbrook and Plainfield.

Autumn Desiderio is the new principal at Granger Middle School in Aurora, moving up from her previous role as assistant principal at Crone Middle School in Naperville. She has a bachelor's degree from Northern Illinois University and a master's degree from Aurora University, as well as teaching and administrative background in Oswego and Plainfield District 202.

Desiderio became Granger's principal after former principal Mary Kelly moved into a district-level position overseeing middle school curriculum.

The new principal of Scullen Middle School in Naperville, James Seput, took over from former principal Mark Truckenbrod, who left for a position in another district.

Seput had been an administrator at Oswego East High School since 2006, working as assistant principal for seven of those years. He previously taught in Valley View District 365 in Bolingbrook and Romeoville and has a bachelor's degree from the University of St. Francis and master's degrees from University of Illinois and Benedictine University.

At McCarty Elementary School in Aurora, Kevin Schnable now is the top administrator.

Schnable, who has a bachelor's degree from North Central College and a master's degree from Aurora University, stated his career as a fourth-grade teacher in District 204 at Graham Elementary School in Naperville. He later taught fourth and fifth grades in Oswego, became a high school English teacher and director of student activities at Oswego High School, and served as dean of students there since 2004.

Schnable replaced former McCarty principal Kim Earlenbaugh, who became principal at District 204's Owen Elementary School in Naperville.
