Critic's film notes

• The Chicago Film Critics Association presents two special big-screen showings of Steven Spielberb's classic thriller “Jaws,” at 1 and 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 8, at the Elk Grove Cinema, 1050 Arlington Heights Road, Elk Grove Village.

Locke Peterseim, a member of the CFCA board of directors, will introduce the movie and lead a post-showing discussion of what turned out to be the film responsible for the age of the blockbuster. Go to classiccinemas.com or chicagofilmcritics.org.

• “Travis: A Soldier's Story,” a documentary about quadruple amputee Travis Mills, wounded while serving his third tour of duty in Afghanistan, will premiere at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, July 10, at the River East 21 Theaters, 322 E. Illinois St., Chicago.
