Celebrate St. Demetrios' 85th anniversary at this year's Greek Fest

The annual Lake County Greek Fest will take place from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday through Saturday, July 11- 13, on the grounds of Saint Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Libertyville.

Record crowds showed up last year to the O'Plaine Road location, south of Belvidere Road and north of Buckley Road.

This year's event will be the 85th anniversary for St. Demetrios Church in Lake County. Greek food will be served, including lamb, souvlakia (shish-kebab), Athenian chicken, gyros, spanakopita (spinach pie), and more.

There will also be Greek pastries, games for the kids, Greek music and dancing. Visitors will be able to tour the fifth-century design Byzantine church with the pastor, Father Cosmas Halekakis.

There is no admission fee to the event and free parking will be available on-site. Drive-through lunch service will be available from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
