Fox Valley Hospice offers 'Grief Takes a Hike' weekend

Fox Valley Volunteer Hospice, a nonprofit organization offering support for those with life-threatening illnesses and the bereaved, is offering "Grief Takes a Hike," a free weekend adventure for families who have experienced the death of a loved one - grandparent, mother, father, child or other significant person.

The hike will be held Friday through Sunday, Aug. 1-3, at Inspiration Retreat Center in Walworth, Wisconsin. Space is limited, and reservations with a refundable deposit are required by Tuesday, July 8.

"Grief Takes a Hike" allows participants to come together in a supportive setting to experience the therapeutic value of nature. Families spend a weekend sharing and processing feelings while enjoying indoor and outdoor activities including hiking, swimming, art, story sharing, relaxing and singing by a campfire. The event gives families the opportunity to interact with others who have also experienced the death of a loved one.

It is available to families at no cost. In conjunction with Presence St. Joseph Hospital, Fox Valley Volunteer Hospice provides transportation, meals and lodging to campers for free. Spanish interpreters are available.
