Samaritan Interfaith responds to increased need for mental health services

Samaritan Interfaith Counseling Center, Inc. was one of the 22 not-for-profit organizations in DuPage County to receive a grant from the 2014 Spring Community Needs Grant Cycle of The DuPage Community Foundation. This award will help to underwrite Samaritan's Mental Health Program, which provides hope and healing for the most financially disadvantaged, and serves individuals with mental/behavioral health issues who have no where else to turn.

Scott Mitchell Psy D, President and CEO said "The need related to mental health continues to be great at all socioeconomic levels, but especially among those of low income. We are grateful to The DuPage Community Foundation for their grant award which will enable us to continue to serve those who need mental health counseling who would not otherwise be able to afford professional services." Doctor Mitchell also stated that Rev. Mark Ramirez MA, LCPC, LMFT, Margaret McKenzie, MSW LCSW and Jeremy Omerod LCPC have joined the Samaritan clinical staff to respond to the increased demand for mental health services in DuPage County.

Rev. Mark Ramirez MA, LCPC, LMFT, excels at addressing the developmental stages of adolescents and young adults. He has counseled people struggling with depression, anxiety, substance abuse, anger management, vocational direction, family of origin, male identity and multi-cultural dynamics. Additionally, Mark has a passion for helping people reconcile spiritual concerns.

Margaret McKenzie, MSW LCSW has a varied background including work in schools, hospitals, and clinical practice. She specializes in assisting clients in transitions involving divorce, aging,

chronic illness, and grief. Additionally, Margaret did post graduate study in family systems and mindfulness based stress reduction. Caregivers of all ages are a particular focus for Margaret and she is dedicated to helping them maximize their ability to provide care while attending to their own needs.

Jeremy Omerod LCPC has experience treating many of life's challenges including substance abuse and dependence issues, depression, anxiety bipolar panic and post-traumatic stress

disorder, relationship difficulties, stress management, and life adjustments.. Jeremy works

mainly with adults and young adult and uses a variety of techniques including cognitive behavioral, and mindfulness training.
