We need more veterans in elected offices

I am married to a disabled veteran from the Korean War. He has gotten excellent medical care since 1954. I can't believe what I have heard or read regarding care or lack of care given to our veterans today. My husband is a patient at Lovell VA Hospital in North Chicago. His doctors through the years have all been terrific.

How could our government not know our vets were being treated so badly? Where were the checks and balances? When the government promises education, medical care, treatment for lasting illness, lost limbs, eye sight, hearing - and the list goes on - it should fulfill those promises. The military fighting today were not drafted. They enlisted to protect and save the United States of America!

How can America turn its back on the promises to our troops? Who will enlist when they see the treatment America provides to our military? We need more veterans in Congress and government. Maybe then our troops and vets will get what they were promised.
