Recycling event to help needy students

The community is invited to attend DuPage Credit Union's Drive, Drop and Donate fundraising event to benefit local students Friday, June 27, at its Naperville Operation Center, 1515 Bond St., Naperville.

The schedule is as follows:

• Electronic recycling: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

• Shred Day: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

• Blood drive: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

• Yard sale: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Monetary contributions are welcome and 100 percent of the proceeds will be used to purchase backpacks and school supplies to be given to students attending the DuPage Regional Office of Education's annual Back-to-School Fair Wednesday, Aug. 6, at the Odeum, 1033 N. Villa Ave., Villa Park.

"We're over halfway to our goal of raising $10,000," said Amy Brandt, DuPage Credit Union's vice president of business solutions. "We're hoping this event will put us over the top so that we can help 500 students begin the year with the tools necessary to achieve confidence and success in the classroom."
