Colt inspired us all to dream big
I am not a big horse racing fan, but the story behind California Chrome captivated so many of us.
During my 65 years, I have never watched the Kentucky Derby, the Preakness or the Belmont.
This year, along with my wife, a horse lover and longtime horse owner, I witnessed with the greatest anticipation all three of these races on TV. How could you not fall in love with the athletic, affable, homebred, chestnut colt that emerged from such humble beginnings to shine in the biggest of all arenas? Along the way, he inspired many of us with common roots to dream big.
Chrome fell short of winning the elusive Triple Crown but won all of our hearts by many, many furlongs.
