Rondout honors school board members past and present

The Rondout Elementary District 72 school board and administration on May 27 held a board alumni dinner as part of its yearlong sesquicentennial (150th) celebration.

Board members from the past were invited to attend and were recognized for their leadership and service to the Rondout School community.

The guest of honor for the evening was Marjorie Loizzo, the current board secretary, who has served on the Rondout school board for 40 years. She took office in 1964 when Rondout was served by a three-member board and is one of Illinois' longest sitting board members.

The current and alumni board members were honored for their collective contributions, which have helped make Rondout a school of distinction, committed to excellence, proud of its rich heritage and looking ahead to the future, organizers said.

The evening began with a dinner reception prepared by the Rondout kitchen staff, Dagmar Galockin and Barbara Flaws. Dinner was followed by a walk down memory lane as board members shared some of their favorite memories, a tour of the building and a short presentation about Rondout by Superintendent Jenny Wojcik.
