Park City man charged in Rosemont shooting

A Park City man who prosecutors say shot at six people in a Rosemont parking garage early Sunday has been charged with six counts of attempted murder.

Cook County Judge Jill Cerone Marisie on Wednesday set bail at $2 million for James Miller, 24, of the 500 block of West Street in Park City.

The accusers, who are in their 30s, were walking through the garage on their way to their vehicle when Miller and his passenger drove by and harassed them, prosecutors said.

Miller drove away but returned. One of the individuals approached his car and asked him to leave, prosecutors said. Miller displayed a gun and threatened the individual, who hit Miller in the head and ran, prosecutors said. Miller fired in the direction of the accusers, then drove out of the parking garage, prosecutors said.

Police identified the defendant's car and license plate from surveillance video at the garage, prosecutors said. They learned he was arrested in Lake County on charges of felony possession of a controlled substance, misdemeanor DUI and misdemeanor unlawful use of a weapon not long after the incident at the parking garage, authorities said.

Two of the accusers identified Miller as the man who shot at them. Additionally, police recovered a shell casing from Miller's car that matched shell casings found at the scene

Miller has a battery case pending in Wisconsin, prosecutors said.

He next appears in court on July 3.
