$678,000 to be used for development programs
HOPE Fair Housing hosted a launch party Thursday for the Elginstead ad campaign at Gail Borden Public Library in Elgin.
"This is a great opportunity for us, for Elgin. This is really important to us," Elgin Mayor Kaptain said.
HOPE Executive Director Anne Houghtaling and Kaptain unveiled the ads in the Dr. Bob Meadows Community Room.
HOPE plans to infuse $678,000 into community development programs in Elgin, some targeting Latino and black neighborhoods that were especially affected by the foreclosure crisis.
The funds will be used for various initiatives in Elgin, including employer-assisted housing and rehabbing of foreclosed homes by Habitat for Humanity of Northern Fox Valley.
