Lincolnshire tax relief

Lincolnshire residents 65 years or older, who live in a single-family residence, condominium or townhouse and pay real estate property taxes, may be eligible for senior citizen tax relief, village officials said in a newsletter. The amount to be refunded from the Lake County property tax bill will be the dollars paid to the Village of Lincolnshire Pension Funds. To qualify, total adjusted gross income (total dollars from any source - dividends, pension, Social Security, etc.) cannot exceed the number the IRS designates as the maximum allowable Social Security benefit a household can receive. In 2013, that benefit was $45,600 for married filers and $30,396 for single filers. The application deadline is Dec. 31. For information, call senior accountant Julia Gabbard at (847) 913-2304.
